From its humble beginnings in the 1950's to the rise of Bob Marley, roots, dub, and dancehall, reggae music has moved out of Jamaica onto the worldwide stage.

Since the international fame of great reggae musicians like Bob Marley, Burning Spear, and Black Uhuru, reggae has taken hold all over the globe. Reggae festivals and tours frequent far off places that show the true extent of its reach.

Today artists like Mr. Vegas have show that main stream recognition of reggae in the pop charts. The effects of many of the Marley family can be heard in numbers of mainstream groups and more and more the mixes like the recent Alicia Keys hit "You Don't Know My Name".
